Mildew is one of the things that can mire your home. You may not immediately think about it but if you pay attention to your bathroom and kitchen you’ll find that there are some very interesting elements. Mold grows in areas where temperature fluctuates and you’ll find that these locales are often in damp areas. Mildew can not only be on cracks between tiles it can also be found on window treatments and more. There’s a physical look to this and there’s a smell that comes with it as well. It can discolor things, it can cause water damage, and much more. Preventing it is not impossible however if you just follow a few simple steps.

Cleaning Tips

First and foremost you’re going to want to clean various elements first. Make sure that you clean the edges of tubs, sinks, and any areas that can be damp or have moisture rise and drop. Common bathroom cleaners can help here.

As for other areas, you can clean up clothing and window treatments in a simple manner as well. Don’t let dampness settle in. Water standing in an area, dirty dishes, and garbage can also be problematic so make sure that you stick to cleaning up and keeping it up over time. Watch these areas and clean them up as you think about it and make sure that you dust as well.

Control Moisture

After you shower, turn on a fan, vent out moisture and make sure that you remove dampness from your home. It may be difficult to get steam out of your home and moisture is an important thing. But make sure that you remove them from the air as best you can. When you do that you will stop mold and mildew to grow.

The biggest issue that you’ll find in your home when battling mildew is moisture. When you have too much of this you will have molds grow and mildew sets in. The best thing that you can do is to clean up kitchen and bath areas, remove dust, and try to level out moisture in the air for the most part.
