Window glass repair is not a chore we would like to undertake but unfortunately it's not easy to avoid. I mean seeing pieces of broken glass is quite annoying to a home owner and getting it repaired as soon as possible is the best solution. Let me share some few tips on this subject below.

The best way to have your windows repaired is to hire an expert who can do it easily and safely. However if you feel the need to do it yourself then you need to do it carefully.

For one you need to be certain of the fact that all your glass replacement tools are available. Do not ever start a project without having all the required tools available.

Some of the tools to organize include, a chisel, glass cutter, glazing clips, push points, glazing putty, screwdrivers, glass handling sucking cups and a hummer. Once you have all these ready then you will be ready to start. If not I suggest you buy or borrow some from your friends or neighbor.

The first important task is to remove the broken glass. I know you might think this is easy stuff but it is really not that easy. You need to find out about the type of glass you are removing and its condition. For example, you may find that is simply common glass, which shouldn't be too much of a problem, tempered, annealed or insulated unit of two panes. Each of these types breaks differently.

For example, annealed glass tends to break onto pointed end shards that are elongated and radiate from the point of breakage. Tampered glass on the other hand breaks into hundreds of small pieces and insulated glass usually has an outer and inner pane and only one usually breaks at a time. So use these tips to understand your window type before you attempt the window glass repair project. Now you can easily go to the shop to buy the right window that you can fit in.
